Somewhere along the way, we interior designers moved away from hand skills, drawn in by the allure of computers and tech.

But in doing so, we lost some of our creative essence, becoming more like computer operators than designers.

Now, we’re often stuck struggling with software when all we really want is to pick up a pen and sketch freely, yet feeling bound by the belief that technology MUST be in our workflow.

AT ONE POINT IN TIME...

I was exactly where you are right now.

Frustrated. Confused. Out of Time.

I had a design presentation looming, and no matter what I did, the computer program just wouldn’t give me the look I wanted to show my client. With the presentation deadline right around the corner, I kept asking myself, “Why don’t I just draw it by hand?” So I did, and my client LOVED it!

Once I stopped beliving computer generated renderings were the only way, things changed in my business...

I was back to building a business I loved.

I enjoyed the design process more because I was using my hand skills and felt confident.
I was catching mishaps and mistakes during the project because I was drafting and drawing by hand.
I was relining myself with my vision and ideas because I could draw and hand render ANYTHING I specified for my clients projects.
Did I mention FREE therapy? Yep, Art therapy that is. Spending the time creating with my hand skills brought me peace and reduced my stress.

As an experienced interior designer, architectural illustrator, and educator...

I decided to open my own school and teach others the long lost skill that grew my interior design business without relying on computer programs.

In 2017, The Bertrand Williams School of Design Visualization officially opened online and has been growing since then.
