I spent years diving into computer programs, trying to bring my design ideas to life, only to discover that I could achieve it all faster and more authentically by hand. I learned sketching, drafting, drawing, and rendering back in design school, but like many, I abandoned those hand skills when computers became the norm. I thought I had to keep up with the trend, spending countless hours and a lot of money on software and devices. Eventually, I picked up my markers again and embraced the traditional way—and I haven’t looked back since.
Rediscovering hand skills brought joy and freedom back into my design process. It reignited my creativity, and I was surprised to find that my clients were more drawn to hand-drawn illustrations over cold, computer-generated ones. My skills sharpened, my designs became more intentional, and before I knew it, interior designers from all over were asking me to create illustrations for them.
